First, Hawaii’s Big Island is – BIG! With an area of 4,028 square miles, and still growing, thanks to Kilauea Volcano; it is almost twice the size all of the other Hawaiian Islands combined. To put this in perspective, at 93 miles long and 76 miles wide, with 266 miles of coastline, the Big Island is almost the size of the State of Connecticut.
This being the case, unless you plan on staying for a while, realistically you’ll only have time to explore a handful of the multitude of highlights Hawaii’s unique Big Island offers. So, let’s get started!
